Ecuador voluntourism

It’s a winding eight-hour bus ride across the Andes, where you feel the effects of the altitude and bone-chilling cold. After a motion-sickness-inducing descent into the Amazon Basin, you then catch a motorized canoe for half an hour on the Rio Tinto, before being dropped into an environment that has tarantulas and snakes and sometimes 40-plus-degree heat.
